Montana’s Firearms Freedom Act Battle Against Obama’s Power Grab
Many conservative Americans and those who still understand and cherish the United States Constitution as the glue that keeps our nation free, cheered at the signing of the Montana Firearms Freedom Act, an act signed by Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer and set to take effect on October 1, 2009. The Act essentially declares that any guns or certain parts manufactured in Montana and remain in Montana are not subject to the strong arm of the federal government. It’s an ambitious battle that could have sweeping consequences for Americans and derail the Statists’ progressive, manipulative, incrementalism aimed at total control over free citizens of this country.

BATFE recently warned gun manufacturers and dealers in Montana to desist in their intrastate effort to control the manufacture and sale of firearms. The struggle is underway. I hope and pray that the Montana legistature and the people of Montana do not relent. The legislature should commit to strongly supporting gun manufacturers–both financially and legally–when and if BATFE drags them into court for failing to comply with federal “authority”. Montana and the country can’t afford to lose this battle. And if Montana doesn’t prevail in court, there’s always the option of widespread civil disobedience. It worked for South Carolina in 1832. It can work again. We must not back off or otherwise appease. Too much is at stake.
Really? It “worked” for South Carolina in 1832? What history book are YOU reading?
llbard…you are missing the point. I spent my entire life serving as a Pilot/Officer in the U.S. Army. There is a very real threat to the freedom we have enjoyed in this country. Our current President, along with the UN, has real plans to disarm U.S. Citizens and dismantle our Constitution. If we as “free” citizens don’t wake up and take a stand…your children will never know what “freedom” ever meant.
jdelaney3 is trying to emphasize the measures we will have to take to keep our country. I am afraid we are way past the point of “civil disobedience.” Having lived and traveled overseas for 17 years of military service, the right to defend our selves and our families with guns, is the most important right of all.
If the federal government attempts to impose its will on the people of Montana, every American with a gun should flock to defend Montana with our lives. If we are not willing to stand up against tyranny in our own country, we will lose it.
jtoddwatkin you are RIGHT on the money…..
